Another Milestone

The website while amusing in places does smack a bit of a intolerant dictatorial nazi venting his spleen over those he/they hold in derision. In a different time you would find his like guarding unfortunates in concentration camps or burning books!
I myself find the current trend of stripping down old and sometimes tatty small to medium capacity bikes and converting them into often good looking but very definitely leisure orientated bikes, in the style of cafe racers or other similar stylised bikes from the past very refreshing.

Well we’ve officially arrived, someone on the internet compared us to Nazis. Break out the Champagne boys, we’re going straight to the top.

  1. I hadn’t heard of Nazis before so I looked them up. Listen to this! Apparently they were a political party in Germany in the 30s and 40s lead by this fella by the name of Hitler. It seems he tried to conquer Europe, and at the same time set up camps where he sent people who he didn’t like. Millions of people died there.

I tell ya, the more I read about this Hitler fella and his Nazis, they were some real jerks!

  2. “Godwin’s law (or Godwin’s Rule of Nazi Analogies)[1][2] is an Internet adage asserting that “As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1″ [2][3]— that is, if an online discussion (regardless of topic or scope) goes on long enough, sooner or later someone will compare someone or something to Hitler or Nazism.” Thanks Wikipedia!

  3. I refuse to believe this was not written in jest.

    “intolerant dictatorial nazi”

Not the other kind of Nazi, you see.

  4. Wouldn’t mussolini’s Italian fascist party be a bit more fitting. Please correct me if im wrong but I do believe the H.B.V. guys are into their Italian bikes. Also, I think there is a precedent with this website where bike modifications are acceptable provided they are done properly and aid the bike in becoming better in the performance department. I am sure these gentlemen would have respect for a proper vintage race bike. However hacking up a perfectly good motorcycle fueled by overly hoppy beer and some basic concepts they picked up whilst skimming some blog sounds a lot like the Natzi movement, which started in beer halls and was led by a questionably sane individual who had read some literature and twisted it into his own agenda. Also! I would like to add his penchant for odd clothes. A lot like this new movement we are seeing today.

Balls in your court hipster boys!

  5. Wow, called nazis by an unsourced blowhard. That’s like the internet equivalent of ‘turn down that damn loud music’. Yup, you riled some (maybe .00005) feathers, for sure.

  6. here’s the problem you fucking idiots. you are all missing the entire fucking point. this (the hipster scene) is how our culture evolves. yes, there are elements of contrived bullshit, and yes, there are scenesters in it for their own egos but what else do we the motorcycling community have to bring to the generation behind us? harley davidson weekend pirate nonsense? fuck that. I’ll take the hipsters. these guys with their coiffed beards and styling products and their artisan this and that and their DJ and video editing skills are the future of the sport and you better come to terms with that. 99% of it is real and honest and in it for the same reasons you are riding that shitty Yamaha in the garage. you want to sneer? go ahead and sneer. I love these fuckers.

my name is dave. I’m 40 years old. I ride a motorcycle year round in chicago. and fuck you.

    • Lol another moron postulates a false dichotomy between hipster shit and Harley idiot shit.

Literally the two worst things in motorcycling today are not the only options. If you think that’s the choice you’re sadly mistaken.

    • Comments like the one from “Support group Dave” always seem to get posted at times when people with fulfilling lives and functional relationships have…better things to do.

    • Dave, if you cannot separate the actual pursuit of motorcycling from that embarrassing pile of fashion brand-manager’s excrement portrayed in the video, I can’t help you.

These hipsters are not the future of the “sport”, because their sport is not riding – their sport is casting themselves in image/lifestyle scenarios that create the illusion that they’re living authentic lives. They will leave motorcycling behind for the next trend soon enough.

      Why do you ride, Dave?

      • “because their sport is not riding – their sport is casting themselves in image/lifestyle scenarios that create the illusion that they’re living authentic lives. ”

    • They will stay on bikes for sure and love them for ever.
The hipster thing will be like once a punk forever a punk.
At least the punks had some sense of self derision.

What ever you do Dave there will always be somebody who don’t like you. Learn to live with it.

  7. “because their sport is not riding-their sport is casting
themselves in image/lifestyle scenarios that create the
illusion that they are living authentic lives.”
Dave, get with the program and realise that those idiots
are just “passing through” on their way to another fad.
The motorcycle world-in case you did not notice- is made
up of far more segments than HD’s and Hipsters.Sooo,
clamber aboard your ol’ motorsickle and ride off into your
Windy City Sunset.Don’t go away mad…just go AWAY
